The Heathrow Explorer Bus Tour
Saturday 7th August 2021
If you fancy doing something a bit different, in mid-August we are looking at recreating a 1970s journey on board a London Routemaster bus, RMA 48, that used to be used to serve Heathrow. We will follow the original routing from the West London Air Terminal (now demolished) to the airport, which includes using part of the M4 motorway. Whilst we can no longer visit Terminal 1, we will go to the Central bus station and spend about 45 minutes there, enabling you to get refreshments and explore Terminal 2 (and maybe Terminal 3 if it has re-opened by then), then we will do a lap of the airport including a photo stop at Terminal 5, before taking a 2 hour break at Hatton Cross, so that you can enjoy and grab great photographs of the aircraft at the legendary Myrtle Avenue park or visit the 'Green Man' pub. On the return back to central London we hope (although, this is yet to be confirmed) to visit RMA 48's former home at Stamford Brook bus garage that used to supply the buses for the Heathrow services.
